Working together on 40 to 50 diverse and exciting projects a year, of all shapes and sizes, its fair to say that we know each other inside and out (with our facades being the ‘out’ of course).
Together we have collaborated and developed landmark buildings such as Atlas House which is located on South Lambeth Road, London.
This particular development couldn’t be anything less than a statement building as it was following hot on the heels of the Broadcasting Tower building in Leeds that won the CTBUH “Best Tall Building” award in 2010.
The architects and the Lambeth planning committee wanted to portray the essence of Lambeth’s strong pottery and ceramics industry and of the site’s past, which once was home to the Royal Doulton ceramic factory, so Argeton Terracotta was the obvious choice for the project’s facade panels.
As specialists in such facade systems Telling Rainscreens were drafted in as facade systems experts in Argeton Terracotta. It was the perfect solution as it offered the versatility to respond to the technical challenges of modern high rise construction and ease of installation that would allow to meet a tight schedule whilst answering to the aesthetic requirements and fitting the concept required.
Terracotta is one of the cladding resources of choice in the market because it is a natural and versatile material that gives architects liberty of expression and cladding and envelope contractors the advantages of a quick and easy installation process.
The development was a huge success and because of its distinctive terracotta facade system remains a favourite landmark in the area. Click here to view our case study on Atlas house.
Another development where the strong working relationship between Taylor Maxwell and Telling Rainscreens saved the day was Zenith House. This was a £47 million regeneration in Colindale, North West London comprising of mansion blocks, mews houses and a six-pronged 18-storey tower designed to look like a sheaf of arrows. The tower was not your average design, but one that went on to breathe new life into that area of North West London.
It looks amazing now – yet at one stage the project was in danger of stalling when architects, developers and planners could not agree how to replicate the terracotta finish specified in the design. And that’s when Taylor Maxwell and Telling Rainscreens got involved….
After collaborating together to devise the perfect building facade solution, the planning officer agreed with the architects, and soon afterwards our Argeton Terracotta rainscreen facade was proposed as a solution to all the project partners.
The six tower elements have different colours with earthy tones in browns and greens which have really stood the test of time and are not colours that ever tire – such is the diversity of the Argeton Facade colour range. The finished result was not only easy on the eye, but the Argeton facade system also helped solve the planning headaches and make costsavings too – but never to the detriment of the quality of the end result.
Together we have re-cladded countless developments with our unique building facades. We pride ourselves on providing heath, safety and peace of mind for the residents of high-rise housing throught the UK which has become more and more vital since the tragic events of the Grenfell Tower fire in 2017. Its projects such as these which make it seem all the more worthwhile.
As the construction landscape is forever changing, Taylor Maxwell and Telling Rainscreens’ relationship is committed to moving with the times too so watch this space…
There are a wide variety of proprietary rainscreen cladding systems available and we specialise in the design and supply of the Argeton Terracotta Façade System which is an innovative and cost effective cladding which is Euro-class A1 Fire rated and holds a BBA and EPD for the system. The Argeton system is based on the proven principle of the ventilated cavity, using natural clay tiles suspended in a rainscreen mechanically attached to an aluminium substructure.
